He stops worrying about death and the future, stops living in the past and starts living in the now. He figures out that Death does not matter at the moment, and that the thought of Death will not spoil his happiness because “everything that happens before Death is what counts” (pg.289). He comes to terms to his son still needs his father, that Will is still a child and will needs his help when other evil comes. He recognizes that even though they defeated the evil they are still more to come and they will not look the same for the come in different sizes and perhaps “they’re already here”(Pg. 289). Charles Halloway understands that “demons” are not just physical, but they are also emotional that they live inside us all. That it is a struggle to overcome them by ourselves. He knows that there will be a point in life where Will will need his father by his side to fight them
