Someone Who Has Impacted Me Essay

Improved Essays
In my lifetime there has been many people that have impacted who I am. There are 3 people that come to mind when I ask myself, ‘who are some people that have really impacted me and the person I am becoming?’ One of the most impactful events in my life would be when my parents got a divorce. It has taught me to spend as much time as you can with the people you love. From that experience I have learned to cherish the time I get to spend with my parents because now that time has been shortened between the 2 of them. I also think the divorce brought me and my brother closer. Throughout the experience be had bonded, and talked about what could and would happen from that time on. He has always taught me to do everything I do with the right drive. He tells me all the time that If I don’t put 100% effort into something I do then what’s the point of doing it at all. He has also taught me to not argue about little things and be the bigger person and let it go. The most valuable thing he has taught me is that family is the most important thing. He always says that we should spend as much time with our grandma and grandpa as we can. My friends have also impacted my life greatly. I would say I was pretty shy growing up until I met my friends. They have definitely brought me out of my shell. Their free spirit and personalities really have rubbed off on me. Playing sports with them growing up made me enjoy sports. Without that bond during sports I don’t think I would be as involved in sports as I am. Growing up with such a great group of friends really impacted my life and who I am as a person in a positive way. Looking at these people and experiences makes me wonder what kind of person I would be if I didn’t go through certain events or have the people in my life that I do. I don’t think I would be the same person if I didn’t have the support, the kindness, or the love of the people around me. I am so thankful for the people that surround me and try not to take them for

The time, money and love that my brothers have sacrificed to make me happy is what has pushed me, and will continue to push me to make the most out of this short life for myself as well as for as many people as I possibly can before I go. On a similar note, the friends that I have made have had a distinguishable effect on me, especially in these past four years. I have had the opportunity to share most, if not all of my free time with some amazing people. They have proven to be loyal, a lot like the hero Wiglaf in Beowulf, never wavering to do what they know is right regardless of what everyone else is doing. A personal issue that people face is the courage to try new things. People are afraid of being ridiculed by others who have experience in a certain field. I sometimes question why others will make fun of a someone because they have the courage to try something that they are unfamiliar with. While there are some who will deride a person for having the bravery and determination to be successful in a field that they have no experience in, the majority of those who are experienced will display respect and admiration to them. Perception varies greatly whether you are someone who is not fazed with trying new things.…
