Participants were given a list of undesirable events and asked to mark which ones had occurred to them. This was called the Life Events Questionnaire, and it was done twice during the one year span: once before the study and once during the study. Health psychology is the study of how a person’s behavior and social factors affect his or her health. This is the area of psychology that this study is intended to contribute to because this study deals with what people go through regularly and the health risks that come with it. This area studies how physical health and illness are all affected by psychological, behavioral, and cultural factors. Health psychology focuses on how illnesses and diseases can be prevented based on these factors. Psychologists studied how the stresses from everyday occurrences and major life events affected one’s somatic health. They studied the stresses participants encountered throughout the day, and these stresses decreased the participants’ health statuses. By knowing that daily hassles make a person’s overall health worse, psychologists can then determine how to combat these stresses to help a person live a healthier
