Moderate news outlets are more likely to not discuss scripture, and if they do, it is usually referring to how a certain terrorist interpreted the scripture for themselves. However, verses from the Bible or other holy books are not mentioned in the media as much as Islamic scripture when justifying terrorism. Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer, an associate professor at the University of St. Thomas, found that violence is prevalent and justified many times throughout Abrahamic religious texts. He theorized that the similar presence of a “Deity who uses unfathomable violence to both reward and punish" may explain why Muslim, Christian, and Jewish extremists interpret texts more violently. Pallmeyer further points out an ironic fact that the public and media…

In fact, many African communities were based and morphed with pure the intention of survival amongst each other. Peace within societies was prominent during these times. Due to agricultural, environmental, and seasonal changes, consistent movement of communities was a necessity for their own survival and way of life. Students should be required to take courses in minority or ethnic studies as part of all college degrees. The unique value of ethnic studies in colleges and universities is that these studies promote respect and understanding among races, support student success, and teaches critical thinking skills. Ethnic studies by and about racial minority groups presents a different narrative that is shaped partially by histories of oppression in the United States. as well as by the intellectual and cultural resources and traditions of those communities. Ethnic studies evolved from the demands of Black Americans for an education that is relevant and meaningful, that affirms their identities and selfhoods, and that works toward human liberation.…
