Somali Civil War In history, Somali civil war is an anti-government revolution for independent in Somalia started in 1991 and continuing till today. The injustice exposed in the videos of “Somalia: The desperate struggle” and “Bloody and contemptuous images” reminds me that those in the developing world face a bleak future through the following reasons: the vulnerability of the Somali citizens, and the racial discrimination of the soldiers who murdered a sixteen-year-old girl. In other words, Somali citizens are not treated humanly from Airborne Regiment (Murphy, 1995). In the video, Rex Murphy, a Canadian commentator mentioned:” Two of Canadian soldiers torment a sixteen-year-old Somali teenager with fist, boots, cigarette, iron bars”. With this in mind, this makes me feel tragic when I saw the pictures token by one of a soldier as a “reward” after they murdered the girl. Also, on one soldier’s jacket, there is a label of “KKK” on it, this is a party that focus on “white supremacy” that is actually a racism to other human (Anti-Defamation, 2013). For example, a black soldier was tied on a tree by other soldiers just for fun. In my experience, when I first come to Canada as a new student with poor English-speaking skills, I faced disrespect from some native students in school.
