Solving Homelessness In America

I would spend my one million dollars in three very distinct and controversial ways. I would

portion the money out to be donated to three different causes. My number one cause is factory jobs

going to other countries, which is going to receive six hundred thousand. Second, homelessness would

be nonexistent due to people having more jobs and my donation of three hundred thousand. Lastly, the

income gap between the rich and poor would be substantially lower and the middle class population

would increase dramatically due to more job opportunities in the United States of America and the final

donation of my million dollars of one thousand dollars. Simply by bringing more factory jobs back to the

states, debt and virtually any other problem

Also, if gangs

and drug activity are gone then the incarceration rate of the United States will decrease quite a bit.

Taxes could also become lower due to less people on welfare and more taxpayers in America. People

would be able to afford much more than today. Health care would no longer be out of the question and

bills could be paid off more easily. Due to taxpayers paying their taxes and such, weak schools would

become strong and stable educational environments.

Secondly, I would donate three hundred thousand dollars to eliminating homelessness in the

United States. As you are more than likely aware, homelessness is an epidemic that needs a lifesaving

elixir to bounce back to the economic boom that this country used to have. We should not have to

witness people living on the streets. This country should have an abundance of job opportunities

available for whoever may need one. Homelessness is unacceptable in my opinion. Even the most minor

job such as a factory position like assembling baseballs, can mean the difference between living and

barely surviving to a homeless person. With this donation, we can get people back on their feet and on

their way to financial

Often times, articles and advertisements that encourage people to donate always appear to be faulting people for have enough. Like Peter Singer stated in his article “The Singer Solution to World Poverty”: “In the world as it is now, I can see no escape from the conclusion that each one of us with wealth surplus to his or her essential needs should be giving most of it to help people suffering from poverty so dire as to be life-threatening. That 's right: I 'm saying that you shouldn 't buy that new car, take that cruise, redecorate the house or get that pricey new suit. After all, a $1,000 suit could save five children 's lives” (329).…

A major concern I would tackle instantly would be human rights. Which is why i choose to give 600,000 dollars to human rights. By human rights I mean child labor, and women's rights, as well as the right of everyone else in the terms of freedom, and happiness. After all the Declaration of Independence says that we have unalienable rights that can not be taken away, these rights are the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness. “ little change to relax; the air at times is dense with coal-dust, which penetrates so far into the passage of the lungs that… he leaves, still coughing up black coal dust” (Document B).…

In 2007 Holden Karnofsky and Elie Hassenfield founded GiveWell, an nonprofit “dedicated to finding outstanding giving opportunities” for those looking to donate their money to a cause. Believing that donors should do as much good as possible by maximizing their donations, GiveWell publishes a list of charities they believe will help the most people in the moment. While giving direct aid is generally viewed as a selfless and charitable act, there are differing views on the proper way to give, or if one should give at all. This, therefore, prompts the question of what the best way to give is, or whether donors should give. In order to ensure that the money I donate contributes to the elimination of global poverty, it is important to assess how…

Philadelphia is proud of the reputation of being “the city of brotherly love”, with the LOVE park and sign right in Center City. However, Philly has gained a reputation for something else in recent years that have brought this nickname into a question; this city has become an example of rising gun violence, with constant shootings and multiple deaths. Every day and night, people are shot and often even killed for various and sometimes mysterious reasons. The city of brotherly love is in desperate need of more control of armed weapons, because gun violence has led to an increase in violence and deaths, weapons are too easy to obtain, and the police are being rendered powerless to stop the rising shootings. Mayor Nutter of Philadelphia is…

In 2009 roughly 2500 people used Lehigh valley homeless shelters last year. Account conducted by The Allentown board found 33 people unsheltered in the region on the coldest night of the year. Shelter residents commented they were there for reasons such as lack of affordable housing, accessible housing, cost of transportation, domestic violence, cost of child care, lack of health insurance, mental health issues, and the cost of food. A vast majority of the homeless are victims of unemployment and personal crisis. I chose this issue because it’s important for everyone to have shelter.…
