Solving Gino's Personal Problems

Decent Essays
In my opinion, Carolyn should have warned Gino gently that he has gone a little bit too far, not actually to stop him but to help him find the way out on this situation. There are ways of handling this case differently from employer and employee. Let's start with the hiring phase: 1. The employer did not ask the candidate any questions about his ability to perform the job (asking questions can help you decide if the candidate is fit for the job). 2. The employer failed to ask if there are any issues with the availability to attend these days/hours and mandatory meetings (Addressing the issues of hours and days during interviews will cause fewer problems during their time at the company).…

What are Daniel’s options in this case? Daniel’s has a few different alternatives that he may choose from. First, as the case stated that he had already decided to do was do nothing. The section I found most interesting was Esquino’s Narrative because it was actual events that occurred in his life. I felt as a reader I connected more to Esquino’s story in an emotional level from the start of the narrative making it more compelling. I can’t imagine going through the situations Esquino had to endure as a slave throughout his life in order to survive. This text mentions some of the struggles he went through while at times he just wanted to throw his hands up in the air and just give up on life, “…on my refusing to eat, one of them held me fast by the hands, and laid me across I think the windlass, and tied my feet, while the other flogged me severely” (Volume E, 93). Flogging someone because they refused to eat seems an extreme…

This time gave me an opportunity to undertake reflective listening through active listening which according to Rogers (1975) in his “client-centered” therapy argues that it encourages the client to share the information in more depth than if I was only asking directive questions. This enabled me to gain information when the client brought out the underlying issues including those that I had not thought about. The active listening also improved my relationship with the client since I was able to express acceptance by avoiding any expression of disagreement or judgement thus making him open up and also trust me as his couselor. This method also left me with enough time to explore and diagnose the issue thus noting the new ways of approach to the…
