To all of those who shout against poverty, war, discrimination, exploitation, discrimination, and environmental destruction – shout louder. According to Zastrow (2014), “In 2012 over 46 million people, about 15% of our population, were living below the poverty line” (p. 117). Poverty can be in our own backyard without even noticing it. I could be the child down the street who goes to bed hungry each night or even the neighbors who had their heat shut off. Poverty isn't just the third world countries that strike us as deprived – poverty is right here in America. Although poverty is not always preventable, there are ways to get assistance and reach out to a helping hand. The poverty simulation for this assignment involves accepting the challenge
