Solutions To Drinking And Driving Essay

When it comes to a solution as broad as drinking and driving, there is a chance that there are many theories as to how we can solve this issue. Because of this, many solutions have been thought of in order to stop drinking and driving. Two other possible solutions have been thought of and those two are, sobriety checkpoints and campaigns against drinking and driving. While they are plausible, these other solutions will not solve drinking and driving effectively, and efficiently as ignition locks will. According to the Ad Council, these campaigns are used to spread the message that “a friend or loved one should take responsibility and not allow others to get behind the wheel if they are not sober” (Drunk Driving). Also these campaigns are designed to educate the public and inform them about the danger of drinking and driving. While these campaign do explain the consequences of drinking and driving, they will not be able to solve human nature and their instinct. Humans are intelligent being. They are able to differentiate between good decisions and bad decisions. But deep down to the core of human biology, humans are just another animal and animals follow their instincts. The public campaigns will deter some people away from drinking and driving, but most will likely ignore their logic and commit this heinous crime anyways. Humans are not to be trusted when it comes to the lives of other human beings. This solution is not plausible because it does not take into account of human error. In order to prevent drinking and driving, ignition locks must be installed into vehicles. By having ignition locks, human error is taken out and replaced with technology which is a reliable
