In this paper, I have chosen to use Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), I have always liked this therapy due to its brief nature and how it focuses on solutions rather than the actual problem.
I have strong beliefs that solution-focused is a useful intervention for many clients. Overall, I believe that solution-focused therapy is a helpful and effective model to help the individual think and act on change, rather than, dwelling on the problem that is causing them harm. I like that it is a brief intervention, which will be effective with most. Creating my genogram of my family assist me to identify family systems patterns and how those impact our current behavior and family system. Mr. Bentio Reyes (grandfather) was authoritarian to all her daughters, permissive neglect to the youngest daughter (Maria T. Reyes) my grandmother was permissive indulgent to her eleven sons. Felipa was permissive neglect. He did not want to discipline at all and left it up to Bengina. Yolanda was permissive indulgent with two daughters and the youngest son but authoritarian to her other two daughters. Emilio was permissive neglect. My father (Arcaido Cruz) was; whereas my brother (Pedro Gonzalez) still authoritative, whereas, my mom. If we wanted to do something we asked mom. If we want to get one of our siblings in trouble we told father. This made an interesting home life. In my family we have different parenting style for different children. Evelyn (my sister) was very authoritarian when dealing with her two sons. Evelyn stated my oldest child never responded to the authoritative …show more content…
We I try to discussed the situation with my other aunt; my aunt changed the subject rapidly and informed me that never speak about this to other within families it will bring up a lot of distress emotions. With all types of situations in my family of origin; it will assist my development and clinical experience as mental health professional for several reasons such as: using effective listening strategies, eye contact, don’t interrupt, and by providing nonverbal feedback. Second, use ongoing positive feedback while communicating within your family of origin, stay focus, and also recognize positive behavior and changes in the other person. Lastly, do not be afraid to self-disclose information about yourself and understanding of the other
