Solution-Focused Therapy Reflection

I will be discussing about my reflection on reading assignment, power point, and thoughts and feelings. The reading topics was over ethical and legal aspects that could occur in groups and a therapeutic intervention called Solution-Focused Therapy. I will be discussing the critical guidelines that a therapist must follow to prevent legal matters or actions. Also, Solution-Focused Therapy has stimulations that the social worker must follow in the groups. The chapters were detailed explaining the most critical process that a social worker could encounter during their practice. The power point provided significant information that is beneficial and important for me to know before I start practicing in the field. I was able to absorb the information and focus on the high points about ethics and legal aspects of working with groups. The professor adds important information into her power point that is not in the textbook. Also, the examples that are provided by the professor make the material easier to comprehend. In addition, the scenarios that the groups had to present that was an ethical dilemma at their internship. The professor is creative in her class by having exercises incorporate into her lectures. It is important to be aware of the different ethical dilemmas that can occur at a variety of settings. Most importantly, the professor gave us the appropriate guidelines on how to handle the situation, such as the steps to reporting it. This technique keeps the student engage in her class and provides important knowledge that I need to know before entering the field. Also, the professor has experience in the field, which is helpful when she teaches the proper steps and do’s and don’ts to the dilemmas.
