According to Corey, Solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) is a future- focused, goal-oriented therapeutic approach to brief therapy developed. SFBT emphasizes strengths and resiliencies of people by focusing on exceptions to their problems and their conceptualized solutions. According to the video, Solution focus is into building solutions and problem solving. Solution building main focus is in finding future focus. Therapists sometimes not know the posture to take because they are not the expertise the clients are the expertise to their own problems. Some of the techniques were very useful especially the miracle question. With the miracle question, it made the couple think back to all the good times and things that they used to do before the arguing. The couple seemed distant from each other with two young ones, who do not get to see their parents regularly due the amount of work load to help support the family. The couple thought back to the times before all of the yelling and the insecurities in the relationship. The wife stated that she had to get on her son for yelling at his sister and the son stated that he only do it because he hear and see his parents do it. Setting a positive atmosphere in front of children is really important. I can definitely relate to the situation because I have a niece that picks up on conservations that she should not repeat. The husband felt as if everything was alright and that their relationship was running smooth without his help around the house. He felt so confident in his work that he forgot that he had a family to take care of. The wife was aggressive because she was a lone in taking care of the home, the children and working full-time to where she barely sees her children. The session somewhat reminded me of my family and how we had to deal with working around each other’s schedule to make our lives better. The situation was in who will be able to get my niece. Other issues unfolded and it made me think about all the possibilities that needed to be taking control of. Solution focused is unique to think about what will happen in the future. For instance, dealing with a problem and to forget that problem, you go to sleep and wake up the next day thinking how you can start your day off with a fresh start by forgetting what happen the previous day. It is like you had a really bad dream and you wake up knowing that your day will be better than your dream.
