I had planned my entire paper around being able to separate the symptoms by their causes. When I found out I could not I had to start back at the beginning with just my topic. Luckily while reading “Effects of social exclusion on cognitive processes: Anticipated aloneness reduces intelligent thought” by Baumeister, Twenge & Nuss (2002), I found that solitary confinement could also cause cognitive function to decline. Finding this new factor to the dangers of solitary confinement allowed me to combine the lack of social interaction and the lack of stimulus together to make one supporting topic versus the two being separate. Had I researched my supporting topics more thoroughly before beginning I would not have had the problems that I did. Discovering that cognitive function could decline as a result of solitary confinement saved my paper, had I not I probably would not have finished my paper in
