Prologue

I ducked behind the tree as I tried to conceal the hole the best I could. Pushing the leaves over it, I saw my handgun. Another shot. The whimpers from Rae were kept in as she sunk deeper down. My gun, still 5 feet away, was all I needed to have a chance of escaping. The next shot chipped the tree next to me. The steps of the soldier got louder. He was getting closer. He can’t capture Rae. Throwing a rock at the soldier, he took a quick glance left looking a bit confused. I jumped out to my gun and grabbed the handle. I ran to the next tree as the soldier regained

In what seemed like a few swift moments, the sun sank beneath the horizon, leaving splashes of orange, red, and purple across the sky, I walked along the battlefield, soldiers lying almost motionless on the green and red-splotched grass.
