Solar Wind Research Paper

As we all know, our Sun is a star. And eventually, all stars collapse on itself and consumes most of the planets orbit it. Yes our Sun will do this and there is nothing we can do about it (unless future technology can stop this, or the more appropriate choice is moving to another system). The Sun is mainly made up of Hydrogen and Helium. When, in about, 5 billion years (if you're a professional astronomer you know this is not to far away.) the Sun will enter a phase called the Red Giant phase, is where the Sun will expand and consume the following planets; Mercury, Venus, and yes, Earth too. The Sun produces a wind called Solar Wind. Solar Wind is just what you might think it is, a wind in space. When in its early life, the Sun had over 67

On September 6, the sun let its presence be felt by unleashing two massive solar flares. The first eruption, classified as an X2.2 flare, the strongest since 2008, occurred at 5:10 a.m. ET. Shortly after, at 8:02 a.m ET, the star spewed out a bigger, and more dramatic, X9.3 flare — the strongest on record since December 2006. Solar flares, or storms, beginning with an explosion usually above a sunspot, the area where strong magnetic fields poke through the sun's surface. When these spots become unstable, they erupt, releasing significant amounts of energy.…

That's one reason why intelligent life is less likely to develop on planets orbiting stars like our sun.”…

Sunspots have been observed since the time of Galileo when he used the telescope to observe the sun. They are visible through a telescope as darkened spots on the sun caused by an area of extreme magnetic activity and dramatically lower temperatures (compared to the average temperature of the sun). The sunspots are approximately 2,000 degrees’ kelvin cooler than the photosphere which is why they appear darker against their hotter surroundings. The diameter of a sunspot varies from approximately 700km to over 7,000km and has a magnetic field of up to 0.4 tesla, which is extremely high. Sunspots are caused by locations of magnetic field disruptions inside the sun which prevent a lot of heat from reaching the surface, hence the cooler temperatures.…

Solar power, simply put, is energy that comes from sunlight. Solar energy is used to power things such as streetlights, homes, or even smaller things such as calculators. Many people have switched to solar energy to power their home’s electrical appliances, as it is commonly believed that solar energy is better for the planet. Meanwhile, other countries like Germany, Japan, and Italy greatly expanded their solar industries, leading them to far surpass America 's. While solar has had a difficult history in the United States, but after years of setbacks, the Obama administration has been working harder to make solar energy a key part of America 's sustainability plan. On the one hand, some people will argue that the government should invest more money expanding oil and gas. While others contend developing wind and solar energy would be the smartest way to go. Mark Lewis argues that oil prices could stay so low that is no longer economic to bring in high cost new oil fields. But even if the oil price does rise, it will not be able to compete with a renewable such as solar and wind.…

Humanity needs to travel the stars for survival purposes because the Earth is more fragile than it appears. Additionally, human aggression could easily destroy the planet faster than the Sun 's rising temperatures could. Consequently it is theorised that the sun will eventually cause the extinction of all sentient life on earth the reasoning behind this is that the sun is getting hotter due to the fact that it is burning up more hydrogen than it can sustain which causes the sun to gain more heat this is seen often in stars of which our sun is one, it is theorised that the sun will wipe out sentient life in 1 – 3 billion years ' time. Furthermore, there is a significantly high chance that human aggression could wipe out humanity faster than a heatwave from the sun, this is evident in the rising aggression between America, Russia and North Korea all who have the power to destroy the Earth with the push of a…
