air, water, and land pollution. Sunlight received by the Earth is enough to meet the annual energy needs of all people worldwide according to National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The environmental advantages are the main drivers in the promotion of the use of solar panels and solar energy.

Cell phones have become a necessity for plenty of people around the world. Cell phones allow people to keep in touch with their families, business clients, and access to the Internet, and so many more. Today’s technically advanced cell phones are capable not only of receiving and making phone calls, but also storing data, taking pictures, and so many features offered by the kind of cell phone used. The importance of cell phones has grown over the years

Solar technologies are also very expensive and require a lot of land area to collect the sun's energy at rates useful to lots of people. People are having concerns of black out and that people are having a hard time to figure in what cases and are risky if the electrical power is lost. Producing solar energy is as easy as harnessing the sun’s rays or photons and converting them into electrical energy. This is done through solar panels composed of photovoltaic (PV) or solar cells that are installed on your roof. When the sun hits a cell, the photons are converted to electrons of direct current electricity that flow through an inverter where they are then transformed into an alternating current power. Electricity produced from solar panels is then used to power your home or …show more content…
At night or on cloudy days – when your solar power system is not producing more than what’s needed –electricity is drawn from the grid as it normally would. In most cases, solar panels produce more than enough energy. The amount of electricity a solar panel produces is not only proportional to the sun’s intensity, but also depends on three factors: solar cell efficiency, solar panel size and the amount of sunlight directly hitting the panel. Your Solar City energy consultant will work with you to decide how much energy you are using and map the solar installation to meet those

Nitrogen trifluoride and sulfur hexafluoride has been traced back to the production of solar panels.” (Maehlum 1). The amount of pollution from the panels is not near the amount of greenhouse gasses that are produced when fossil fuels are burned. Another controversial issue is that solar plants can cause environmental issues. Another issue people have with solar energy are the power plants. That building these solar plants by clearing land will have longer term hazards such as harming the animal life.…

Batteries store solar power. Charge up the batteries on the sunny days and use that stored energy when the sun is hard to find. Many of the urban folks that are living without the grid, cloudy days and batteries get the job done. Solar energy is reduced when the sun is behind a cloud or on the other side of the world. It is low efficiency.…

That charged energy is sent to a central receiver, or solar tower located in open fields (Union of Concerned Scientists 38). The second factor to make the system work happens at the central receivers or solar towers, located in fields. The towers have the similar mirror panels, called heliostats, that are found on the roofs of the houses. Their job is to receive and change the sunlight to thermal energy, which is powered by a generator (Union of Concerned Scientists 40). The last piece that completes the solar energy process requires a parabolic dish, which uses a saucer to collect the energy ( ) on top of buildings or houses.…

The primary function of a battery is to store energy generated during sunny periods. This then allows a regular power supply to support a portion of the energy needs of a building. However, solar panels use batteries that are slightly different from the average battery. Deep cycle batteries are capable of all the above functions like storing energy, but they are still unique from other batteries, like a car battery. With a car battery the energy that is stored is released all at once to get the engine going and then receives a massive recharge.…

That being said, more solar panels should be installed and used throughout our nation. Solar panels can be expensive to install and maintain but can be beneficial in the long run. According to Environment 8e, solar energy is radiant energy from the sun; it includes ultra violet radiation, visible light, and infrared radiation (Environment 8e; Pg. 45). The Tesla Powerwall is a type of active solar energy.…

Efficient Many solar naysayers claim that intermittency, or the inconsistent gathering of solar energy during cloudy days or nights, is a huge problem we can’t avoid. Siah Hong Tan, a pioneer in solar research, states that solar energy emittance from the sun is a predictable pattern. Being able to forecast solar energy emittance will allow an efficient collection of energy, meaning intermittency will be less of an issue. Even then, based on German experimentation with solar power, solar energy can still be generated in a significant amount when it's cloudy. Increased research and interest in solar energy has made a large amount of progress in the past few years, making a more reliable energy source Along with forecasting, a storage capacity of about 3-5 hours will fill the gaps in any intermittency by using the stored energy says Martin Hermann, CEO of 8minutenergy.…
