Women's Rights are Still an Issue in our Society Today According to the article (1851) Sojourner Truth “Ain't I a Woman?” By Sojourner Truth, “Look at me! Look at my arm! I have ploughed, and planted, And gathered into barns, and no man could head me! And ain't I a woman?” (Truth 1). This is saying that women are just as capable as men, but they aren't treated like they deserve it. This means women's rights are very important even though some may see it as silly. This matters because women work hard at the same job as men and they deserve the same rights, it is hard to be heard when no one cares, it's hard to earn your rights when people don't think you deserve them when you truly do. According to Sally Kohn’s argument, “Despite numerous credible studies showing that women earn roughly 77 percent of what men earn, conservatives attack the idea of a pay gap as “a myth” and “a total sham.” This is saying that women aren't being paid as much as men for doing the same job. This is important because they say that women don't get payed as much because they set aside time for children, but in this case this actress is single and doesn't have children and she still only gets 77 percent of what the men get. This matters because even if women don't have a family and are doing the same job as men but are not getting payed as much for it then there is a problem in our society that we need to change.
