The slingshot defined how brave Sohrab really was. While Amir searched for Sohrab he talked to a man by the name of Zaman portrayed to Amir just how good Sohrab was with his sling shot. When Amir arrived to get Sohrab from the orphanage he ran into Assef with the now knowing that he was the leader of the Taliban. With Assef being the leader of the Taliban, he told Amir that the only way he could have Sohrab was for him to take a beating and for Sohrab to watch. While Assef beat Amir, Sohrab pulled out his slingshot and the brass ball hit Assef dead in his eye and he fell on the floor and began screaming. Just as Hassan did, Sohrab also protected Amir. Sohrab not only helped save Amir, but he also saved himself. Sohrab also was very reliable and strong minded, even after all of the things he has been through he was able to live on. His reliability came in when he saved Amir from
