Ever since I was six, I took an immense interest in computers moreover the programming part. I plan on majoring in computer science, concentrating in software engineering; the required education for this is bachelor’s degree in computer science. After I graduate I plan on working as a Senior Software Engineer. According to onetonline.org summary report, software engineers perform “research, design, develop, and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific, and general computing applications. Computer Science. I asked Douglas; what she finds most enjoyable about programming? She responded, “The creative component of designing a solution.” I went on and inquired; are there any negatives to majoring in Computer Science? She replied, “[Several] positions may require long hours of overtime. Generally, overtime salary is not paid to the employee. [Certain] companies may provide time-off later for the extra workload; some may not.” Then I asked what kinds of experience and preparation help most in this major? She remarked “At the high school level, I recommend as much math and science as one 's schedule can hold. This will be [wholesome] preparation for the required math and science in the curriculum. While particular CS occupations may not require such a depth of math and science, the practice of problem solving will be beneficial in the long run. At the college-level once a student has a great exposure to programming such as in the introductory courses, s/he should be able to learn new technologies and skills independently outside of the CSC classes and therefore create an impressive resume.” Then I interviewed one of my peers in order for me to see their perception of the career; Dante Jones is a second year computer science student. I have a passion for creating programs. Like Personality Page, mentioned ENTPs will excel at anything we are passionate about. I love computing; I enjoy the idea of writing programs in order for the computer to complete a task or solve a problem. I feel the work and materials provided by the LSU Olinde Career Center confirmed my decision to study software engineering and pursuing the career. I learned from the career center that careers are not permanent. Even if I end up miserable because of this career, I am obligated to stay there for the rest of my life; however as of now I am completely sound with my career
