America is a free country where everyone is able to express themselves. Some girls and boys like to express themselves by playing sports, by not letting girls play boy’s sports and not letting boys play girl’s sports, you're not letting them express themselves. If a girl wanted to play baseball why wouldn’t she be able to, boys only use a smaller ball when they play baseball, or if a boy wanted to play softball, they just use a bigger ball in softball than baseball. You get hurt no matter what you play whether it football, baseball, softball, even girls basketball it shouldn’t matter. It is not a very big deal that a girl wants to play football or a boy wants to play softball they are able to make there own decisions. Even though many people

In the article titled “Face-Off on the playing Field,” Judith B. Stamper explorers the issue of female athletes competing on traditional boys’ sports teams. First, stamper explains how opponents argue that girls are not aggressive enough. They say that playing contact sports like football and wrestling put girls at risk of serious physical harm. The author also reports that some male athletes are uncomfortable having physical contact with girls. Some boys feel that it is wrong or ungentlemanly to be aggressive toward girls.…

“You play ball like a girl!” this famous quote from The Sandlot shows how baseball and softball players are always arguing which sport is harder than the other and the difference between the two sports. Even though both are nearly identical in some ways, each sport has gear, popularity, and field they play on, that have an importance that makes each sport what it is and separates the two. Gear in baseball is one of the most needed items, if not the most needed. In baseball you need cleats for gripping the dirt and grass.…

Transgender issues in softball have become increasingly more aware in society, which brings up issues on the rules and regulations pertaining to the game. A transgender person should only be allowed to hit the ball size of their sex designated at birth unless they adhere to the rules and regulations pertaining to the league of choice. According to the United States Specialty Softball Association (USSSA) Official Rulebook, “men are not permitted to compete on women’s teams in USSSA sanctioned events” to ensure the safety of women players. This may seem a bit unfair, but when competing in women’s or coed softball tournaments there is a big difference.…

In the game of baseball, even the greatest players ever fail 7 times out of 10 at the plate. In a game like this, you have to be patient; success is not easy to come by. In the Summer of 2015, I tried out for the most prestigious amateur (baseball) scouting event ever, the Area Code Games. 500 professional baseball scouts gather in Long Beach, CA to watch the 220 best players compete against each other. It is an amazing opportunity to anyone who wants to pursue a career in professional baseball.…

Although when it comes to stealing bases in baseball the runner is allowed to steal whenever the ball is live (which is most of the time). In softball you are only allowed to steal once the pitcher releases the ball out of their hand, but the runner is not allowed to leave the base if the pitcher has the ball in the pitching circle. Another major difference between baseball and softball is the how the ball is thrown to the batter. In softball the ball is pitched underhanded and can be fast as it is in fast-pitch softball or slow like in slow-pitch softball. In baseball the ball is usually pitched overhanded in really fast…

Despite its name, softball is far from a soft sport. Some even argue that it’s harder than baseball. However, in both softball and baseball, batting is one of the hardest parts of the game. In order to be successful at the plate, one must understand what they are facing. In fast-pitch softball, the ball is thrown from 43 feet away averaging about 70 miles per hour.…

First, Title IX made many more chances for girls (“Playing but Losing: Women’s Sports After Title IX”). Even though Title IX has more girls playing these sports, the rights they are receiving are far worse than boys or men that play. Girls should still be receiving the same rights as boys because they are both just trying to have fun and learn new things at young ages. At older ages, teenagers should receive same rights because they are juggling school, house chores, and playing sports that they love very much. Secondly, Title IX made sure the money for sports was equally split between males and females (“Cover Kids…

I believe that men and women should not play sports together. Every person has had a time in their life when they had an argument about which gender is better. On a playground in grade school every child has been in an argument saying “boys and girls drool” or vice versa. In this day and age those same kids have grown up and women have gain equal rights with men which they deserve. There’s an argument saying that men and women should be playing sports together as well.…

This is true also in the sports arena regarding respect for the female gender. Society judges the role that women play in “masculine” sport activities and reflects the roles of women when they are outside of their playing field (Flanagan 2). Consequently, many women do not want to play the sport, fearing they might be called a lesbian or homosexual. Society needs to…

Several people often misconceive softball as being an effortless, female dominated sport that requires little to no skill. Some say that softball is just a sport in which you hit the ball and run through bases trying not to get out. People who have never played softball, let alone any other sport, will say that softball is made easier for females. Before I began to play softball, I too speculated that softball was one of the most basic sports there was. Speaking from experience, softball is quite challenging and tiresome.…

Women are often paid much less than men because they do not generate enough attention for the public. If television stations aired more women’s sports, they would generate enough to fans to raise more money and receive high paychecks. Men sports teams are considered to be more popular and more exciting than women’s sports. If women’s sports were aired on the radio and television shows as often as men’s, they would have a chance to make more money.
