Softball Team Case Study

On the fourth weekend of October, the Emmaus Youth Association, (EYA), entered two U12 travel softball teams into the end of the year softball tournament at Northampton High School to see who would become the Lehigh Valley U12 Softball champion. The two teams were Emmaus Yellow coached by Bill Held, and Emmaus Green coached by Traci Krapf.
In this double elimination tournament, a tournament that has a team lose two games instead of the traditional one, the Emmaus Green’s bats went silent as they lost their first game to the Pocono Pride, five to one. They didn’t play again until the next day, Sunday, against the Northampton Tornadoes. It was a well-fought game which each team scoring runs to take the lead, but Emmaus Green lost to Northampton for their second loss in a row to eliminate them from the tournament, nine to eight. Emmaus Green coach Traci Krapf was interviewed after the match-up and said, “It was a well fought game and I feel the players gave their best. But in the end, Northampton was better than our best.”
Meanwhile, the Emmaus Yellow played their games in the tournament. The Emmaus Yellow faced off with the Northampton Tornadoes in their first game. The Yellow got off to a quick start by scoring four runs in the first inning. Keeping the pace throughout the game, Emmaus

It was a hard fought game as Lower Mac ended up prevailing over Emmaus Yellow as Yellow previous form crumbled as they lost, five to three. Lower Macungie’s bats exploded for three runs in the fourth inning to seize the win. On the brink of elimination, Emmaus Yellow faced a team from Hokendauqua. It was a slow start for both teams, no one scoring until the third inning. Emmaus Yellow awakened and scored two runs to knock the Hokendauqua starter out of the game.
