Softball is a great sport!
Softball is one of the best sports there is to play. There are so many different positions to play including pitcher, catcher, first, second, third, shortstop, left field, center field, and right field. You can also be on the bases, or up to bat.
When batting you have to keep your eye on the ball and follow through with your bat. If pitched and hit just right you could hit a homerun. Hitting the ball is one of the greatest feelings in the world. Once hit you run to first base if the ball isn't close by it would be a great opportunity to run the the next base.
The softball field may be smaller than the average baseball field but the ball is bigger and pitched underhand on flat ground.

A pop fly is a hit high but short, and a flyball is a ball hit high and deep. After the ball is caught runners have to go back to the base they were on, or tag up. If desired or possible fielders can throw the ball to a base to try and get the runner out. Running to bases is very risky you can be tagged or thrown out. You have to be a fast runner. Base runners can lead off once the ball is out of the pitcher's hand.
Some basic rules of softball would be metal cleats or screws are allowed, if injured the player cannot return to the game, a player is officially in the game when their name is entered on the score sheet, bats must be softball bats, and no jewelry even earrings are advised not to be worn.

“You play ball like a girl!” this famous quote from The Sandlot shows how baseball and softball players are always arguing which sport is harder than the other and the difference between the two sports. Even though both are nearly identical in some ways, each sport has gear, popularity, and field they play on, that have an importance that makes each sport what it is and separates the two. Gear in baseball is one of the most needed items, if not the most needed. In baseball you need cleats for gripping the dirt and grass.…

Both games have similar defensive line-up on the field, with fastpitch having nine but slowpitch having ten. Slowpitch games allow a tenth player, who either plays as a fourth outfielder or acts as a “rover” in the shallow area between the shortstop and second base. The main difference between the catchers in slowpitch and fastpitch is their protective gear. Fastpitch rules require a catcher to be fully suited while slowpitch often allow only a catcher’s mask, if any gear is required. Another major difference between slowpitch and fastpitch are the rules on the base paths.…

Transgender issues in softball have become increasingly more aware in society, which brings up issues on the rules and regulations pertaining to the game. A transgender person should only be allowed to hit the ball size of their sex designated at birth unless they adhere to the rules and regulations pertaining to the league of choice. According to the United States Specialty Softball Association (USSSA) Official Rulebook, “men are not permitted to compete on women’s teams in USSSA sanctioned events” to ensure the safety of women players. Softball was invented on Thanksgiving day in 1887 in Chicago, Illinois by a group of Yale and Harvard alumni. They were all just sitting around waiting for the outcome of the Yale vs. Harvard football game, when one of the alumni threw a boxer's glove at a harvard supporter. The supporter swung at the glove and everyone was interested by the act of the stick hitting the glove. George Hancock, a reporter for the Chicago Board of Trade, yelled out, “Play Ball”, and the first softball game began.…

In softball you are only allowed to steal once the pitcher releases the ball out of their hand, but the runner is not allowed to leave the base if the pitcher has the ball in the pitching circle. Another major difference between baseball and softball is the how the ball is thrown to the batter. If there weren’t a baseball team for a school due to lack of players, then a male interested would have to play on the softball team. He would most probably lead the league in steals, hits, pretty much everything because of his strength and the fence would be no more than 215 feet so he could easily get a home run (Janelle Greer, 2011). Although Janelle Greer claims men playing in a womens’ softball league would completely dominate, we don’t need her to tell us that. Anyone familiar with how many women are capable of playing with men has long known that just because men are stronger, it doesn’t mean that women shouldn’t get a chance to play with the…
