Rhyming was used during the song, however it was not structured rhyme. Some examples of rhyme could be “me” and “honestly” or “behind” or “blind”. Question is another techniques used, an example of this is “What kind of father would take he’s own daughter’s rights away? /and what kind of father would hate his own daughter if she were gay?” Pink used this question to address the president’s stance on gay rights. Another techniques used was repetition, an example of this is “Dear Mr. President come take a walk with me” the strumming fades out and then “come take a walk with me” is repeated, this repetition was used to emphasise on the fact that the president would never feel or think like her. “Dear Mr President” is an effective song that has great impact on listeners as it provides with a real image of issues that go in in the world.
