Romeo plays one of the most important roles in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Romeo is part of a wealthy family and is a popular figure amongst the people of Verona. The protagonist is romantic and intelligent with his use of words. Near the beginning of the play, Romeo cares about nothing except his love for Rosaline. It seems that Romeo does not actually understand love, but just wants to experience it. He tells Mercutio and Benvolio that he will never love any woman more than he loves Rosaline. This is a reflection of Romeo’s stubbornness. It never occurs to him that there may be other outcomes. In spite of this, the moment he meets Juliet, Romeo falls in love with her. Even though his family and Juliet’s family Romeo bear grudges against …show more content…
Both fall in love easily without getting to know the person well and seem to base their feelings mainly on the person’s appearance. They both quickly fall in love deeply so that their daily lives are affected. Romeo avoids his friends and family while he mopes about love. Obelix becomes distracted and absent-minded when in love. Romeo and Obelix both react strongly in situations more so than the average person. They can both act aggressively and use force as they are both formidable fighters. Despite their aggressiveness, they are both “soft” characters. Romeo is emotional, and Obelix tends to cry. Even though these characters are in totally different stories that happen centuries apart, Romeo and Obelix are remarkably …show more content…
Both characters are courageous and dependable and will not hesitate to come to their friends’ aid. In fact, Mercutio sacrificed his life to defend Romeo from Tybalt. Asterix would likely do the same for Obelix. Also, Mercutio and Asterix are both intelligent and have a sense of humour. Others trust them for their valuable advice. Mercutio and Asterix are loyal friends. Unlike Romeo and Obelix, Mercutio and Asterix are the more sensible side of the pairs. They do not tend to overreact. Mercutio and Asterix are both more patient than Romeo and Obelix and would reason through their options carefully. Thus, Mercutio and Asterix are unusually similar even though their stories take place several centuries

His whole attitude/deemer is lost because he can get into the pants of a girl he “loves.” Because of this I doubt Romeo knows anything about love. He had compared her to “(Insert what Romeo said about Rosaline)” All those words seem to capture the physical aspect of Rosaline and nothing about her as a person. It is key to remember that the main difference between love and lust is that love you enjoy then more for what they are on the inside then what they are on the outside.…

Mercutio v.s Tybalt Is it possible for characters to be alike and different at the same time? In William Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Mercutio and Tybalt absolutely loathe each other. These two individuals have drastically hot tempers, extremely facetious attitudes and terrifically loyal mentalities. Even with their shared qualities, they have a few differences. The first difference between these characters would be how they display their traits; even though these traits are similar they have different ways of flaunting them.…

Tybalt intended to fight Romeo because he disliked his presence at the Capulet’s party but after Romeo refuses to fight Mercutio feels the need to fight for him instead. This is not the only time Mercutio is a display of masculinity in the play. As Romeo’s friend he likes to mock him, calling him an petrarchan lover and joking about his version of love. The difference to Romeo is also found when juxtaposing how Romeo and Mercutio speak. For instance, when Romeo talks about the girls he is in love with or has a crush on he talks in poetic sentences.…

Romeo didn’t really love Juliette Romeo’s idea of love is purely skin-deep in the Shakespearean play Romeo and Juliet. He never once mentions that he loves Rosaline’s or Juliette’s personalities. Infatuation and love are two vastly different types of affection that most people get confused between. It is likely to occur more so among a boy and a girl when they are young and inexperienced as opposed to when they’re grown and matured. Infatuation can easily be mistaken for love in many cases. In Romeo and Juliet infatuation is mistaken for love by the both of them, for what they had between them was not love due to the fact that they were not mature enough, love takes time to develop, and because it was based on physical attraction. Love deals with more than just looks.…

Romeo also uses oxymoron’s to describe how grieved and hurt he feels, “ I live dead”, O loving hate”. This reveals how confused Romeo feels as the unreciprocated love has made him feel shut down, “ I have a soul of lead”. Romeo uses negative words against himself to explain his emotions which points out to the audience that unrequited love is very heartbreaking and sorrowful and also that you shouldn’t love someone so instantly as it can result to disappointment.…
