As far as we know her husband had either died or was no longer married to her, so she was having to support herself and daughter (Wikipedia). Even with all happening, she took it in stride and helped the people in need.
It’s slightly frustrating that a woman that more than likely had to give up so much to help this family, isn’t well know. How hard was it to go find this lady and ask her about this? How many heroes never got recognized? Why are we so oblivious to the people that have risked everything for others?
