After the events that had previously occurred in The Outsiders, PonyBoy is now reconciled with Darry and Sodapop .In the heroic attempt to save the bambinos from the blazing church, Johnny was struck on the back by a piece of timber and lost consciousness. After interrogating the doctor, Ponyboy found out that Johnny was in a critical condition and “if” he ever woke up from the coma, he would be crippled for life. Subsequently, Ponyboy is devastated and horrified over the reality that there is a possibility that Johnny will perish, and even if he did wake up, he would be crippled. Afterward, Ponyboy, Darry, and Sodapop returned home. The next morning, Ponyboy cooked breakfast and expressed his family’s obsession over chocolate cakes. He was
