Sodas and soft drinks have been the number one choices for beverages in the world for years. Sure, soda has a great flavor, but what many people do not know is that the great taste comes with serious side effects. Many studies have been conducted that prove the effects that soda has on the body are threatening to staying healthy and even staying alive.
How Can Consuming Soda cBe Life Threatening? Multiple studies have been conducted that show a life-threatening relationship between the body and soda. Soda has been said to have major negative effects on teeth. First, although it is unpleasing, drinking soda is almost as bad for your teeth as drinking battery acid. According to a chart released by the Mississippi State Health Department, Battery Acid has a PH only 1.5 greater than Pepsi and Coke (Mississippi State Health Department, 2013). When soda is consumed, the acid of the drink attacks the teeth for about 20 minutes, however, each sip triggers a new attack. Although the man that was observed had poor dental hygiene, it still shows the effects that soda consumption could have on teeth. The researchers stated that the results from the study gave clear indication of the long- term damage of soft drinks. So, think about the damage that battery acid does to objects, then think about that same thing happening to teeth. Imagine seeing a smile and half of the teeth are missing or ruined because of something as simple as drinking sodas. It is not known that soda will affect teeth the same in every mouth, however, a good way to know it will not happen is avoiding the consumption of
