The conflict between different social classes always a problem （exist) in the society. This also happens in the novel The Outsiders. It’s telling(This novel tells) a story about the class conflict between two gangs, the greasers and the Socs,.The main conflict in The Outsiders is Greasers against Socs. The reasons that Greasers against Socs is because of their different social status and different living styles. Greasers (consisted) are by boys on the East Side, including Johnny, and Curtis family.??? Socs, the abbreviation for Socials, refer to the West-side rich kids. Their different names and different places where they live seem to show that they are two groups of people (that are )extremely different from each other. Absolutely, Socs have higher social status. They do not want to be bullied by Socs. So when Bob and his friends bully Pony and Johnny, Johnny kills Bob. After Johnny gets into hospital, Greasers offer to fight with Socs, without weapons or runaway. Not only for Johnny, but for all the greasers, because if they win, Socs will not disturb Greasers’ life. They are resisting, for not to be bullied by Socs and for a better life. So during the whole novel, greasers are always fighting against Socs. However, some people thinks the desire for violence against the desire for reconciliation is the main conflict. But the truth they are forced to fight with each other, because of different set of values, and different social status. This is the fundamental reason for violence. In conclusion, Greasers against Socs is the main theme in The Outsiders. The reason of that is they have different social status and different set of values.
