Sociology is the study of social behavior in humans, with emphasis on how individuals interact with each other, the relationships that people have, and how society functions as a whole. Sociology looks to answer the long asked question of: why do people make the decisions that they make? This question can be answered using theories of sociology that examine the relationships between people.
