The Macro and Micro models in society differ in many aspects. Microsociology looks at the smaller picture in society while examining the individual or small groups in society this is a hierarchy structure works from the bottom up. Whereas Macrosociology looks at the bigger picture by examining the whole of society from the top down. Macro looks at how society shapes the individual but Micro looks at how the individual shapes society and how society is what it is today due to the individual. (differencebetween.com, 2014)
Micro is an action theory one of its key figures is Max Webber. Max Webber understands society in the terms of the individual and groups who live in it, he looks at the groups and individuals in society to help understand it. Research in microsociology is subjective and it explains social actions using methods that provide qualitative data which is rich in detail. (Hartsem.edu, 1998)

Marx believes that conflict is the beginning of society and that it must exist for society to exist. He looks closely at the struggle and conflict within society between two opposing classes. The Bourgeoisie, the big business owners, and the Proletariat, people who have something to sell. They both depend on each other to function. Marxism explains social stratification as society based on inequality of distribution of production.
