A big part of my life is spent socializing with friends, co-workers, and those I am surrounded by in public places. I was able to learn in a safe environment through experience what happens when you behave outside and within the norm. From the first day I learned about the importance of keeping schedules with a bell letting us know to line up for class in the morning and after recess. If our class was late getting to lunch, then the next lunch group would have to wait because there would be no place to sit. This would cause the rest of the day to be off schedule and chaotic. While I was in the 4th grade a black boy was adopted by a white family and he was one grade behind me. I liked him and he was extremely popular with many friends. While it may be thought that we would all be prejudice towards those who are a different race, it seemed to have had the opposite effect. Because race was never really an issue for me, I did not assign stereotypes to people and grew up without the knowledge of them because there was no reason for it to be an issue. Sometimes as an adult when I met someone who was from a different race they did not want to accept me because I was white and came from an all-white neighborhood. They formed a stereotype that I choose not to be in a neighborhood with other races because I felt I was better. This did not stop me from making friends with people from different races who accepted
