Sociology messages in Advertisements and Commercials
Throughout the world, there are millions of advertisement campaigns that have their eyes set on attracting a specific target audience. Seeing an advertisement that catches your attention could’ve been specifically targeted for you. An advertisement can reach millions of people minutes after its release, through the use of the internet like social media, websites, and emails. Broadcasting networks like the television and radio networks are the two most popular and the most effective when it comes to delivering a message. In this paper you will find 10 advertisements that used sociological theories, and concepts to become more appealing to the audiences.

However, if you make good choices and take care of yourself your life can be prolonged. Driving under the influence has become a growing problem and an increasing threat on the roads. In America 28 people die from impaired driving every 53 minutes. Driving impaired has been a problem in the United States since the invention of automobiles; however, it did not become an important social issue until the 1980s. Drunk driving campaigns have steadily increased over the years. In this advertisement/PSA a teenager is shown leaving for the big dance. After the dance he goes to a house party, after consuming multiple drinks he gets a text message asking to pick her up from the dance. In the text message she assures him that he is probably okay to drive. Moments later he gets in a car crash that ultimately takes his life. At the end of the PSA it shows an officer approach the house and inform the parents that their oldest child has passed away. You do not know whether to attend college or go out and get a job or maybe just relax for a while. Now, imagine seeing a picture that shows the pay scale of a graduate compared to an individual who decided to jump straight into the work force and didn’t pursue a degree. The difference in pay is substantial. This advertisement strikes the viewer letting them know how easy it is to fall into the norms of individual consciousness, the act of judging and classifying another person. In today’s society if you don’t have a degree or have an idea for your future you are considered incompetent.
