Sociological Approaches To Social Problems

In the world, there exist social problems that affect the social nature of the society or affect the people. Social problems are therefore negative issues that affect human beings either directly and indirectly and impact on their social lives. The social issues affect religion, social institutions, individuals and political entities. There are however different approaches to these social problems that differ in the perspective of understanding and dealing with the issues. Some of these approaches include the sociological approaches, psychological, policy-oriented approaches, or the criminal justice viewpoint (Mooney, Knox, & Schacht, 2016).

It is a serious social issue that affects most of the countries in the world. It also impacts on the health conditions of the people who are involved in such social problems. Some of the drugs that are used by these kinds of drug abusers are bang, cocaine, heroin and hard drinks. Sociologically, substance abuse is regarded as a significant social threat in the society as many people are lured to it in which they develop addiction towards using the medicines and hard substances. Statistically, drug abuse affects an enormous population of the world as it is increasing steadily. The number of people who are reported to hospitals to have been hit by the social problem is very high and inclines continuously. The usage of narcotics can be treated in the society using peaceful and productive social methods such as creating awareness among the community members on the dangers of using drugs. It has involved campaign against these drugs which has been initiated by non-governmental and governmental organizations who are concerned with the health care of the society. The addressing of this social problem, however, involves the activity of all the members of the community because most of them are affected indirectly if any case they are not directly affected.
