As I have read further into the sociology book, I have come to learn that sociology is in everything we see. No matter if we catch it or not it is present. To further explain the hidden aspects of social media, Netflix, newspapers and even children's shows, I have chosen three things that I myself did not fully understand the story behind until Intro to Sociology. The first of these is the most current act of discrimination against a minority group is the temporary ban of refugees from the seven majority muslim countries. Donald Trump. Pitting sides against one another in this manner are extreme dualistic approaches in which neither side has the mobility to further their cause or bring an end to the so called war. This approach is not the intended reaction, the intended reaction was to say of course, all lives matter equally, but right now black people and black men in particular are being targeted unfairly and attention needs to be brought to this. Some people saw the intended purpose while others saw another distorted dualistic version in which caused the them versus us effect resulting in the death of innocent officers. We could also use symbolism in this instance, the using of the hashtag followed by black(or blue) lives matter is meant to evoke a feeling or give a purpose to the reader. It has become a well known symbol in a relatively short amount of time. Before sociology i did not fully understand the purpose behind the whole movement and was not clear on why it was even happening. I am now aware that yes, wrongful killings are being committed because of this movement, but the real purpose behind the protests and rallies are not for these few outlier scenarios it is for a change in the way people are being treated. The symbolism hidden behind the mass medias flashing headlines about deaths and cruelty are the real reasons for this
