Height is determined by genes, but is affected by nutrition and diseases in early childhood. In adulthood, it is an indicator of health and socioeconomic status. People who are taller tend to live longer on average and those who are shorter tend to be more prone to chronic diseases and have a shorter life span. People who are taller also earn more on average. If socioeconomic status is related to health, it makes it an area to work on and prioritize. Working on economic growth will not only improve the socioeconomic status of a population, but also their health. The purpose of this article was to look at the relationship between height, disease, and socioeconomic status across populations.
