Imagine a world where everyone has gone into utter chaos. There's no rules, no sense of civilization. There's no good left in anyone in the world. Without society and their rules for us to use as guidelines, the world turns to darkness. This is just how things would naturally turnout without preventative rules and regulations such created by society. After being removed from society, human beings revert to their evil nature and there's nothing anyone can do about the change because once it's done, it's done and there's no point of returning. The Lord of the Flies shows a perfect example of this truth. For instance, Jack was a choir leader but once removed from society he transformed into a savage killer who would hunt anything and anyone who got into his way. Within the early days of the boys being on the island, Simon slips away from the rest of the group and ends up accidentally discovering a restful and calm area where “he squatted down, parted the leaves, and looked out into the clearing. Nothing moves but a pair of gaudy butterflies that danced round each other in the hot air..” (Golding 57). He enjoyed this area on the island anytime he felt that he needed to get away from everyone. It was not a mediocre setting compared to the rest of the island and it was his favorite place of meditation.
