Social Workers In An Aging World: Article Analysis

The name of the article I chose to read is called Opportunities for Social Workers in an Aging World. I chose this article because the title of it caught my attention. I figured if the title was any resemblance of my thoughts towards it; the article would discuss the various opportunities in our society for Social Workers. Additionally, this journal article was fairly easy to comprehend and digest. Do not misunderstand me, I had read it a few times before actually writing a review, but that was because I enjoyed reading the content of the article. Out of the many articles I've read, this one was by far one that the writing was clear and it seemed pretty accurate. Another reason I chose this article is it relates to the community by sharing information on how Social Workers who work in gerontology may better assist their clients. This was a plus for me, seeing how gerontology is one of the areas that interest me. Since this topic interests me, it was more than right to gain some knowledge from the article. In today's society, the elderly population is rapidly growing. From this growth of individuals also comes the supply and demand for more Social Services assistance/workers. It would be best for any individual in the Social Services arena to be learned on the population they will encounter in their practice. The first main point is in regards to World Aging. Elderly individuals take the lead worldwide in this area. This population of individuals is the fastest growing population in the world (Site).
