Social Work: An Important Role As A Social Worker

A social worker has many roles to play, but is never really thanked for what they do for clients. Social work is a great field to take interest in and pursue. A social worker is someone who promotes social change. They are the problem-solvers to every situation you encounter with them, family and relationship counselors. They are to help enhance, and ensure the well-being of the society. Someone can get to save so many lives every day whether they’re babies, teens, young adults, or older adults. Social workers play an important role they are the first that clients reach out to when a problem occurs. They provide them with hope and encourage them that their life isn’t all that bad. The first encounter with a client is very important. Most of these first sessions are called “intake sessions” I know this from previous experience at Naomi Family where I did my internship. Their job is to assist the client to know why they need help and where they can get it. Social workers also address them with services, resources, and opportunities, which provide them with the help they need.

The relationship between client and social worker is important and when you feel the burnout you just want someone to talk to but you cannot it can go against your regulations. However social workers are supposed to be empathic towards clients. They learn these skills in their bachelor’s and master programs. It is their job to engage in the client’s well-being so they understand what could help
