The values that influence my desire to be a professional social worker comes from the experiences and relationships in my life. My father is an example service, patience, love and hard work. Watching my daughter grow and our struggle to help her with her disabilities opened my eyes to a need in the community for supportive services. My work in the community has shown me that if people do not get the help, they continue to pass the same bad decisions down generation to generation. I have also seen success from those that got the support they need. The accomplishments I have seen make it all worth it. They give me a desire to keep trying. …show more content…
To be successful, continual development has to continue throughout your career. I will be turning 44 this summer and would like to continue in the role I am in with the school district for a while longer. I still have a lot to offer to Special Services, supportive staff, district staff, parents, and students. I believe a master’s degree will accomplish goals within my current job as well as my future development. There will be a point in my career I would like to take on the role of an elementary school Counselor; allowing me to focus more on the student’s needs, rather than supporting staff. I would like to go back and work one on one with students that have mental health
