It was again practiced when the social worker met with the housing subcommittee of the original policy academy group, mental health service providers, and the Chamber of Commerce. By establishing the meetings the worker was brining participants together to promote the change processes. As the worker prepared to attend these meetings by making copies, created a presentation, and prepared registration paperwork the worker practiced the role of manager. The worker practiced the role of mobilizer attempting to identify and convenes community people and resources such as the housing subcommittee of the policy academy group, contacting the director of a successful scattered-site model, and Chamber of Commerce. The social worker practiced the role of initiator by calling attention to the chronic problem of homelessness each time the worker attended meetings with group of individuals and agencies. One particular example is when the worker practiced this role was meeting with the mental health service administrators and agreed to take their concerns back to the steering committee. I am aware of how and where to locate reliable information such as in policies, government documents, and journals for many different topics. I can clearly communicate the information that I obtain to others. I am comfortable delivering information to others. I do this on an individual level on a regular basis. In addition I have developed skills that are required to fill the role of a broker on an individual and family level. I work diligently to connect individuals and families with community resources to meet their unmet needs. I network with organizations, individuals, agencies, and colleagues to connect individuals with community resources. I also have skills that pertain to the role of advocate including the ability to identify and implement interventions that create change for individuals and families.
Overall I need to continue to develop all the skills pertaining to the social worker macro practice roles due to not practicing these roles at a macro level. Particularly the skills of advocate when working to change policies and laws. These are skills that I have not put into practice as of this time. Also the skills of a broker that are required to connect entire groups and communities to community resources to meet an unmet need of a large number of
