With that being said, Lezzoni (2014), suggest “Individuals in older and younger generations with disabilities generally share the goal of independence: living in communities and participating actively in community life rather than dwelling in structured, highly supervised or institutional settings” (pg. 65). Moreover, as a team, we were pleased with our assigned agencies acquired person-centered philosophy that encompasses social work values; such as, respecting the persons self-determination to remain independent, offering wraparound services for the recipients to remain self-reliant, and most importantly – offering trainings to raise the recipients levels of self-efficacy.
