Traditional child welfare services are typically enacted in response to concerns about child maltreatment and signal significant family problems relating to neglect, child physical abuse, child sexual abuse, or other related family issues (2011). There are many programs directed towards providing a safe environment such as, foster care, and group homes. The primary goal is for the child welfare workers to ensure that the child has a safe and healthy environment. Child welfare social workers seek that the permanent home of the child, whether it be with biological parents or adoptive. In the short film A Home for Maisie, shows how children are affected is they are mistreated and abused (2011). Maisie is a nine year old girl, who is one of eight adopted children of parents Jim and Sue. She is having a hard trusting that her adoptive parents will not abuse her in the way her biological parents did. Maisie suffers from developmental delays and severe temper tantrums.
