It seems like no matter how hard I try, something happens and I will get nothing accomplished. Mt co-workers and I often laugh about this. However, this just goes with the territory. Being a social worker is not a predictable day to day job where you do this, this and this in the morning, and then move on to this and that in the afternoon. This has allowed me to become very flexible when I am at work. I will eventually accomplish the items on my list, but it may not be within the time frame I was originally planning. Even when this happens, a social worker needs to continue to display empathy, and making sure you are attentive and listening to what the client needs and wants. As a social worker, a person needs to remember you are working with people, at times people in crisis, and a crisis does not occur from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday only. I remember saying many times to co-workers, a problem will not come to light until 4:30 pm on a Friday afternoon, and you have to be willing to “roll with
