It was fun to learn more about the different stages in life and what can be done to help prevent things. One thing that stuck out to me the most was the adverse childhood experiences (ACES), and how these things that may seem so simple, can affect someone for the rest of their life. I enjoy being able to relate people to theories. This is not always a good thing, because theories are not always accurate, but I like to see and compare how fitting they are for that person. I am registered in a class called Diverse Populations, and I am very excited about this. I love to learn about other cultures and how or what I can do to respect every individual. The course outside my major that has influenced me the most is Cultural Anthropology. I love to learn about what other cultures participate in for their daily norm. It was very interesting to learn about how the way we portray ourselves compared to how we portray other cultures. One thing that I took away from this class is to never look down on someone because of their social norm. Along with listening to others and their concerns I like to know detail to stories. My greatest concern is not being enough of a help to others. As stated, I enjoy knowing details of a story, but there are times when I am just not sure what to say or ask when it comes to learning more detail, and a lot of times, there will be one piece of detail to a story that answers a lot of questions. Part of the reason that I may struggle with this is because I focus too much on using my listening skills. One way I could fix this is to just relax while working with clients. Once I feel more comfortable using the listening skills that I have been taught, questions will more than likely come more easily to
