This allowed the student worker to recognize that client was lonely and accepting to current condition. In addition, to pain the client stated that previously he was diagnosed with cancer and received surgery to removed the tumor but inform his physician that he didn’t want to be notified in the future about any other major health related issued. When asked why he didn’t want to know about major health issues, he exclaimed that he had lived a long, prosperous life and didn’t want to go through the cancer treatments. Referring back to his wife, he stated that she passed away two day before their 50th wedding anniversary, she was seven year older than him, he stated that statistically speaking women normally live seven years older than men and that would equal out their life …show more content…
He used to have a passion for painting pictures but lost interest after his wife passed away. In conversation, with the client he stated that he is “home body”, meaning he doesn’t like to go out the house that often because he is comfortable in his residence. As a professional opinion the client may still feel connected to his wife being in the home, since this is where she died. Also, this couple used to go out for enjoyment together so he may not feel comfortable doing things without having his wife by his side. As a reflection for myself, I enjoyed meeting with this client he was kind, full of life, and had great stories to tell. Initially, when I walked in his home I could smell a strong cigarette odor this made it difficulty to breathe but after a few moments I could breathe fine.
