There isn’t a tremendous amount of work you need to do to become a social worker. All you need is at least a bachelor’s degree, but this is only for the beginning of your career. As you want to go further in your field, you will need to expand your education. For example, if you hold a bachelor’s in social work (BSW) you’ll be able to work in schools/urban areas. And as for a master’s (MSW) you will work in the general areas doing with families, or any job at that matter. A bachelor’s in social work usually takes up to four years to finish. And if you’re a full-time student you can finish your master’s in social work with an additional two years. Basically, all depending on where you want to land, it will take about six years to complete.
Plan:
Sacred Heart University actually has an online master’s to social work class. I wouldn’t mind working from home at times. And the cost of it all, depends on if you’re a full / part-time …show more content…
But, as of today it takes up 22% of the work force. And it is predicted to grow 19% from 2012-2022 this means we are halfway to are mark already. As of today there are 642,000 people employed as social workers, so in ten years there will be about 702,990 social workers if not more. Thats our 19% growth rate from 2012. Ok so the math for this is:
2017-2012 it has been 5 years the halfway mark. Then do 0.19 ( for the 19%) and divide that by 10. And you get 0.019 that's the rate per year. Then 0.019(5) for the five years that we have already that gives you 0.095. From there do social workers today times the percentage you have left. Remember 0.095 is just for 5 years, so what about the other 5. You do 642,000(0.095) = 60,990. The 60,990 means about how many new people will become social workers, so you add that to what social workers we have today. 642,000+60,990= 702,990 social workers by 2022.
