Before I decided to become a Social Worker and to study in Osnabrück, I grew up in
Oldenburg, a city in Northern Germany. My mother is a doctor, my father an economic consultant and I have one older brother. When I was an adolescent, I travelled to the USA and to England for a holiday trip with my family which was a very interesting experience that I enjoyed a lot. The english language and english speaking countries fascinated me since I started learning about it in third grade. That is why I chose to go to a bilingual class in high school. The english subjects, biology, history, music and geography, changed every year from sixth to tenth grade. Apart from my interest in english, I liked math, physics and biology during my school eduaction

During that trip, I learned a lot about the Bulgarian culture, about myself and was again fascinated by foreign countries. When I finished school, I actually wanted to become an engineer.
However, I did not want to go to university right away. Instead, I did a voluntary year in a workshop facility for people with disabilities. During that year, I learned a lot and it made me realize that I had to do social work in the future. So I applied for Social Work at the
University of Applied Sciences in Osnabrück. The university was my first choice, also because they offer a program which is called ´International Social Work´. It is an exchange program with the cities of Lincoln and Malmö. German, English and Swedish students come together and learn about different social topics for two weeks in every country. For me, it was very interesting to study in different countries and learn about different views on Social Work, about other cultures and the different political systems.
Besides my academic interests, I play the guitar since I am nine years old. I am mostly concentrating on modern songs. Moreover, I enjoy reading and about a year ago, I

That is why I consider the improvement of intercultural competences during the program as a very important aspect. Having the opportunity of experiencing all those things in the country itself and not only from books or other media is a big reason why I would like to participate in the study program. The other reason is the topic of
´Entrepreneurship´ which is mentioned as the main topic of the program. Learning about this topic is in my opinion very important for everyone and can be very useful for me and my future career. The reason is that one of the life goals I mentioned in the personal statement is to manage or even establish an own institution someday. Hence, knowing about ´Entrepreneurship´ and how to become an entrepreneur is a very attractive topic to me. I already heard about some aspects of the topic during a course called Social
Management in the third semester of my studies but we did not talk about it in detail. Now,
I am curious about learning more about it and about the american perspective on the topic.
A better understanding of Entrepreneurship is one of the goals I would wish to achieve by participating in the program. If I take part in the program, I will also learn a lot
