As an effort to recruit quality foster parents, I have explored many community venues such as churches, community centers, and libraries. Undoubtedly, these recruitment efforts have increased the number of foster parents we serve. More importantly, every new foster parent brings hope and the possibility of providing a nurturing and loving home to our children and youth in need.
Additionally, I had the opportunity of facilitating an intense career readiness program for a group of five young people. After sixteen weeks of arduous work, I was able to secure employment for four youths and continue to offer them support. For this and many rewarding experiences, I strongly believe that the social work profession is more than a job; it is a privilege.
It is indubitable that the field of Social Work requires a zest to help others and gain fulfillment in doing so. It is not a field that will produce the highest earning potential, but one that will produce gratification in one’s purpose in life.
