This linked in with the STARTTS training, that highlighted the importance of understanding the complexities that the uncertainty and prolonged nature of processing visa times, loss of status, culture, stability, sense of self, the possibility of not being reunited with extended family again combined with dealing with the impact of traumatic experiences back in their country, further mixed with the challenges faced with seeking protection are a complex interaction of stressors that makes it extremely difficult for asylum seekers to establish a life in Australia.
