Many important Arab individuals enriched the Abbasid period with social work that up until today has its impact on Muslims prosperity. This paper is focusing on a prominent personality the first lady of Baghdad Zubayda bint Ja’afar Al-Akbar the wife of Harun AlRashid (the fifth Abbasid Calph) in inspiring social work and social innovation.

Her highness then ordered the digging of a channel to bring water from areas of rainfall in Wadi Nu'man to Mecca, including several channels to reach Arafa of course after ensuring the safety of water through placing stone ponds to purify it. She did not only stop there she also ordered to establish pond to collect wastewater where this water would flow to the plantations that existed to take advantage of irrigation. And also, a closed sub-channel of the main channel was developed, connected to reach Muzdalifah to pour into a large well in Mina named Bir Zubaydah. Ultimately, her involvement in social work had given a real picture of the rights of Arab women.
Finally, social innovation can be generated from an individual, a group and or organizations with social concern and a passionate humanitarian. Social innovations are not limited to one from another it is done to provide a better quality of life, to easy challenging day-to-day activities and to bring attention to possible areas of improvements servicing all members of a community regardless of ethnicity, gender and religion.
There are many examples of social innovation and social work through out the years of Islamic civilization, back in history and up to today extended by the great work Prophet Mohammed (S.A.A.W) initiated
